Hello, Heather, and thank you for your question. This illustration was on the cover of the April 11, 1909 issue of The Sunday Magazine. The magazine was distributed as an insert in major U.S. newspapers like The Los Angeles Herald, The New York Tribune, and the Sunday Star (Washington, D.C.). I scanned the image from the Sunday Star issue, which I purchased on ebay. The same artist illustrated other Sunday Magazine covers; I’ve seen black-and-white online versions of his work on the January 19, 1908 and July 4, 1909 covers.
